We offer dental treatment under general anesthesia. General anesthesia is a medically controlled state of unconsciousness, similar to a peaceful sleep, during which you do not feel pain or remain aware of the procedure.
At Rosa Dental Clinic, we cooperate with MUDr. Tomáš Hrtánek, a highly experienced anesthesiologist and medical supervisor of Detská anestézia, s.r.o.
We recommend dental treatment under general anesthesia in the following cases:
- extensive dental procedures
- oral surgery and dental implant procedures
- patients with severe dental anxiety or fear of dental treatment
- patients who are difficult to treat using conventional methods, including adults and children
Treatment under general anesthesia may also be suitable for children, patients who are unable to cooperate during treatment, and patients with physical disabilities.
In such cases, it may be possible to treat the entire dentition in a single session.
Before and after treatment under general anesthesia, the following instructions must be followed:
- Do not eat or drink for 6–8 hours before the procedure (to reduce the risk of vomiting). Eat only easily digestible meals the day before the procedure.
- Do not consume alcoholic beverages the day before anesthesia.
- Do not smoke on the day of the procedure.
- Remove dentures and contact lenses before the procedure.
- Do not wear makeup or nail polish on the day of the procedure.
- Leave all jewelry and accessories at home.
- Remove any facial or oral piercings.
- For outpatient anesthesia, arrange for a responsible adult to accompany you home and stay with you for 24 hours after the procedure.
- Do not stay alone during the first 24 hours after the procedure.
- You must not leave the clinic unaccompanied or travel home alone by public transport.
- Do not drive a motor vehicle for at least 36 hours after the procedure.
- For two days after the procedure, avoid smoking and alcohol, take only medications approved by your anesthesiologist, avoid handling sharp objects or tools, and eat easily digestible meals.
- Avoid scheduling demanding work commitments during the first week after the procedure.
After dental treatment under general anesthesia, you will remain under our care for approximately 2 hours. Once you are ready to leave, we will provide you and your accompanying adult with post-operative instructions before you return home.
